March was a busier than average month with the wedding, spring break, and my uncle's passing. Here is some of the random stuff from in between.
Dahdo's birthday - Rebecca was obsessed about making him a carrot cake - his favorite - but he's gluten free. Without any help from me, she (after recruiting Owen to help) cut up a bunch of baby carrots so they were even tinier, mixed them with coconut and even through in a few chocolate chips for good measure. But there was no time (on my end) to make a cake...so we bought a tiny gluten free coconut tart and she was happy to add her "topping" on top!

Maggie officially dropped her nap. We strung the process out for a bit - there wold be a day missed here or there and the lack of a complete melt-down around dinner time was encouragement enough that we could survive this. The few naps she took were on the guest bed (bye bye tent, ndyou've been good to us) and then it was just easier (mostly on me) to just stop it all together. (If you're only letting your kiddo sleep for 45-60 minutes and it takes 15 to read all the books she wants before and she's cranky for 15 after...you can see how it starts to work against itself.) Anyways, now that its officially gone...we're getting some of this on our way to/from get Owen from school.
The Other Mezgers came over for lunch? dinner? Can't even remember, except I know the kids had a great time playing with their cousins who we just don't see enough during the school year. The big 6 on the trampoline together.
Maggie pushing "my friend Blair"
The eldest Mezger grandchild hiding...
I think this was a lazy Saturday morning with some sort of fort (hence Maggie's flashlight) - but she's just taking advantage of Daddy's back-rubbing skills.
Enjoying a mid-week dessert platter prepared by Rebecca - who else?
Maggie stuff halfway in her jammie shirt.
We walked all the way from the Mopac bridge to the ducks without much incident. Except as I recall (since this was one of those afternoons where Maggie would have been napping) I pretty much had to carry her back to the car.
Trying to get a sweet smile from this gal is like...
And then there's M - I had to forget about the photo opp because some onlookers were pretty convinced I was going to let her jump/fall off the wall - which I admit was a possibility.
Owen's class doing their "book reports" - he was Nate the Great and gave the following report:
My name is Nate the Grate. I am a
detective. My dog Sludge and I had a case yesterday involving a phony clue. My
favorite part of the case was when I solved it. I used handwriting to figure
out who wrote the mysterious, phony clue. I noticed that the letter “E” that
Finley wrote on the paper he dropped in the gutter matched the letter “E” on
the invitation clue. It was Finley – he wrote both clues! He was trying to test
me to see if I am actually a great detective and by solving the case I showed
him that I am. I am Nate the Great and I am a great detective.
The small font is indicative for how quietly he spoke. :) (The best part was that he had a real pancake halfway sticking out of his pocket - because NTG loves pancakes).
A random "happy mother's day" (in March) that R made for me. Such sweetness. Such randomness.
More of R's antics - a very messy snack she made herself, and a bunny/carrot art to make JoJo feel better after his hip surgery. Because a bunny w/ carrot will of course cheer him up!
A perfect spring day - beautiful sun and 3 kids eating Blue Bell on the back porch.
Bath time. Maggie was "reading" while I combed R's hair out.
This is what R did while I combed M's hair out. Ninja something?
Another day w/ no nap. She fell asleep on me like this. So I shut my eyes too - what's a mom to do?
The oldest class at the girls' preschool makes a quilt every year that gets auctioned off for a ridiculous amount of money - I love my kids, but no way! - anyways, here is Rebecca's square - a hand print fish. Purple of course.
And just a few random things:
*Maggie is obsessed with sneaking (I wonder where she gets that)...so we hear let's sneak up on________ almost daily around here - and usually its said with her normal loud voice within earshot of whomever we're supposed to sneak up on.
*Maggie is obviously listening to us because we've been talking about time a lot and Maggie tells us it's "thirty o'clock". That's how it feels to me too!
*Her other random phrases (mostly used out of context): I don't think so, That's not the deal, This is our chance...
*Rebecca invented a smoothy recipe (modeled after one she had w/ Dahdo - aka Smoothy King) and she affectionately named it The Little Slug
